Once you decide to start something, it's best not to stop. That is what I have been telling myself for the past couple of weeks. Since our huge success of our second show at Taft's we have had a couple of other killer shows.
First, we had the pleasure of having our good friend Chris Weir headline our 'Presents' series at Listermann Brewing Company. Chris and I both started comedy around the same time, and it is always so much fun to watch him work. He is a true wordsmith with his jokes, and really does a great job at holding up the mirror to aspects of our own life to help us all find the humor. We also had some other killers on the show, including Cincinnati Comedy's own 'Burger King' Josh O'Neil, who really amped up the comedy audience with his dirty jokes. Also on the show was a contingent of comics from Dayton, including Aaron Phillips, Jon Morris, Jimmy Market, and surprise guest Travis Charles. While everyone did well, the audience was especially delighted by Travis' take on life in Dayton. All in all we had 70 people show up for the show, and we learned a new way to set up the room that requires half as much work as normal. I am very happy about both of those things.
On Monday, we had a special Bombs Away! Comedy presents, with headliner Chris Thayer. Personally, I am a big fan of Chris, have been for a while now. When I was approached to host him for a show, I jumped on it. Chris is a silly comedian, with razor sharp wit. His punchlines hit harder than most comedians I have seen, and he is a true delight to watch. We also had some Cincinnati power houses such as Karl Spaeth, Mohammed Patel, Anna Mazza, Katlin McFee and V.A. Bennett. I always love when I get to work with such funny and professional comedians. It is shows like this that remind me how special the comedy scene is in Cincinnati, and makes me excited to see where it goes. If you have not been to a show, make it a point to see a comedy show. It will literally make your life better by adding more happiness to it.
Thank you for stopping by, and I hope to see you out there laughing soon.
Be good to each other, because we are all we got.
